Indian tourists do not require a permit to enter the Andaman Islands, however if they wish to visit the specific tribal areas they need prior permission from the Deputy Commissioner in Port Blair. Visas are required for foreign nationals visiting the islands.

Forest Museum

The museum is managed by the Forest Department of Andaman and Nicobar Islands and since it is located outside the city, it is best to start the day early in the morning. Summer Season: Summers are usually warm but pleasant in Andaman and Nicobar Islands with a high level of humidity (80%). March to May are the summer months in the islands and are suitable for all kinds of tourist activities.
Monsoon Season: Monsoons are very erratic over here. Andaman and Nicobar islands experience monsoon in two stages: Southwest Monsoon from the month of May to mid September and Northeast Monsoon from November to mid December. The islands experience medium to heavy rainfall with an average annual rainfall of 318 centimeters. The temperature usually ranges from 22.5° C to 29.9° C during the monsoons.

Winter Season: Winters in Andaman and Nicobar are not very cold and perfect for sightseeing. The season starts from the month of January till the month of April.
By Air: Since Port Blair is the gateway to all the other islands under Andaman and Nicobar; the only commercial airport over here is Veer Savarkar Airport, which has secluded services to Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore, Chennai and Bhubaneswar.
Air India, Goa Air, Jet Lite, Jet Airways and Spice Jet are the airlines that regularly operate from Port Blair. Flight tickets to Andaman and Nicobar islands are a little expensive because of the small number of flights operating between the islands and mainland. Try to book the flights as early as possible, especially during the peak season.
Some foreign chartered flights are also allowed to land at Veer Savarkar Airport, but only if they fulfill the guidelines of Directorate General of Civil Aviation.
By Sea: Regular passenger ships are available from Chennai, Visakhapatnam and Kolkata to Port Blair and vice-versa. There are three-four sailings every month from Chennai and Kolkata to Port Blair, however, there is only one sailing from Visakhapatnam per month. The journey usually takes around 50-60 hours and the ship berths at Port Blair for around two to four days.
Inter-Island Connectivity
To get from one island to the other, the Directorate of Shipping Services has launched regular ferry facilities from Phoenix Bay Jetty in Port Blair. Tickets can be purchased from various Ship Ticketing Advance Reservation System (STARS) counters.
Private tourist boats are also available from Aberdeen Jetty in Port Blair to Ross Island, North Bay, Viper Island, Harbor Cruise and so on. For journeys to Jolly Buoy and Red Skin Island, catch a private tourist boat from Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park at Wandoor. New catamaran ferries (MV Makkruzz) have also been introduced from Port Blair to Havelock Island, which are much faster than government ferries.
Seaplane services have also been introduced by the Directorate of Civil Aviation for traveling to tourist places like Hut Bay, Diglipur and Havelock Island. Furthermore, regular helicopter facilities are also available from Port Blair.
Apart from above, buses, taxis and auto-rickshaws are easily available for getting around the islands.

Best time to visit Andaman and Nicobar Islands
Andaman and Nicobar Islands are blessed with a moderate climate throughout the year, which ranges between 23°C and 31°C. The weather over here is usually not volatile, however there can be some tropical storms and late summer rains. The best time to visit the islands is between the months of Mid-November and April.Summer Season: Summers are usually warm but pleasant in Andaman and Nicobar Islands with a high level of humidity (80%). March to May are the summer months in the islands and are suitable for all kinds of tourist activities.
Monsoon Season: Monsoons are very erratic over here. Andaman and Nicobar islands experience monsoon in two stages: Southwest Monsoon from the month of May to mid September and Northeast Monsoon from November to mid December. The islands experience medium to heavy rainfall with an average annual rainfall of 318 centimeters. The temperature usually ranges from 22.5° C to 29.9° C during the monsoons.

How to Reach Andaman and Nicobar Islands
The islands are well connected to other parts of the world by air and sea:By Air: Since Port Blair is the gateway to all the other islands under Andaman and Nicobar; the only commercial airport over here is Veer Savarkar Airport, which has secluded services to Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore, Chennai and Bhubaneswar.
Air India, Goa Air, Jet Lite, Jet Airways and Spice Jet are the airlines that regularly operate from Port Blair. Flight tickets to Andaman and Nicobar islands are a little expensive because of the small number of flights operating between the islands and mainland. Try to book the flights as early as possible, especially during the peak season.
Some foreign chartered flights are also allowed to land at Veer Savarkar Airport, but only if they fulfill the guidelines of Directorate General of Civil Aviation.
By Sea: Regular passenger ships are available from Chennai, Visakhapatnam and Kolkata to Port Blair and vice-versa. There are three-four sailings every month from Chennai and Kolkata to Port Blair, however, there is only one sailing from Visakhapatnam per month. The journey usually takes around 50-60 hours and the ship berths at Port Blair for around two to four days.
Inter-Island Connectivity
To get from one island to the other, the Directorate of Shipping Services has launched regular ferry facilities from Phoenix Bay Jetty in Port Blair. Tickets can be purchased from various Ship Ticketing Advance Reservation System (STARS) counters.
Private tourist boats are also available from Aberdeen Jetty in Port Blair to Ross Island, North Bay, Viper Island, Harbor Cruise and so on. For journeys to Jolly Buoy and Red Skin Island, catch a private tourist boat from Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park at Wandoor. New catamaran ferries (MV Makkruzz) have also been introduced from Port Blair to Havelock Island, which are much faster than government ferries.
Seaplane services have also been introduced by the Directorate of Civil Aviation for traveling to tourist places like Hut Bay, Diglipur and Havelock Island. Furthermore, regular helicopter facilities are also available from Port Blair.
Apart from above, buses, taxis and auto-rickshaws are easily available for getting around the islands.
